How to insert an image in a template

upload your image to a service like postimages.org (opens in a new tab) (or whatever image hosting you prefer)

Copy the Direct Link to the uploaded image:

Create or Edit a new template.

Click on the Insert Image button:

Now you should see the image in your template.
